The President presides over meetings and supervises the overall functioning of the Panchayat.Vice President: Performs the duties of the President in their absence.Ward Members: Elected representatives chosen from each ward of the Panchayat.Standing Committees: Committees formed to facilitate Panchayat decisions and administration in areas such as finance, development, welfare, health, and education.

History of Grama Panchayat

Valayam Grama Panchayat has a rich history rooted in traditional agriculture, education, healthcare, and tribal culture. The region was once under the control of local Kovilakams, with farming mainly based on tenancy. From the 1940s, migration and improved agricultural practices encouraged the cultivation of coconut, pepper, rubber, tapioca, bananas, and other crops. The farmers’ movement of the 1950s brought significant changes to land cultivation.
